Basic Black Hat

Hat: Made using Crazy Aunt Purl’s Easy Roll Brim Hat Recipe with Crystal Palace “Iceland” (100% wool) in black on #11 circular & double-pointed needles.Started: October 2, 2005

I love a basic black hat. I buy one, and wear it to bits. I have a chenille roll-brim that I got four years ago that is on its last legs, and a “velvet” bucket hat that has pretty much had it, too. So OF COURSE I was going to knit a basic black hat for myself at some point.

And I did. This is a very simple, no frills black wool hat. I made it a little big so I can pull it down over my ears when needed. After doing the last few scarves which require a little thinking as far as a pattern, sitting down and just knocking out knit stitches helped this hat fly off the needles. I did the body on Sunday night, and finished the decreasing and finishing on Monday night.

Voila! Basic black hat.
