Sweeter Lemon

Some people make lemonade – I'd prefer a sweeter lemon

I’m not sure how, but somehow I managed to lose not only my favorite lipstick during the move, but also my iPod. Granted, I have all of my music on my computer, but I miss my little 2 gb white old school iPod. I’ve been shopping for other MP3 players online, and once I sell some more yarn, I may be able to get one.

As for my lipstick – I loved it. The only problem is that I can’t remember who made it, or what color it was, which means replacing it will be a wee bit difficult.

I’m holding out hope that there is a magical mystery box hidden in a closet that we just haven’t unpacked yet, where both my lipstick and my iPod are just waiting for me to find them. Fingers crossed!

This is such a no-brainer, but I had to share.

This week, Mr. Martini and I (along with the 2 cats) moved from Chicago to Louisville, Kentucky.

For this move, I did something I’ve never done before: I bought moving boxes. Usually I scavenge Craigslist or from friends, but this time because it’s such a long distance, I wanted the boxes to be as uniform as possible.

I ordered just enough boxes online, and had them shipped. They arrived in two rather large but still fairly thin shipping boxes of their own.

Crafty me decided to keep these shipping boxes, and had the movers put them on the moving truck.

Now, as we unpack, we’re breaking down the moving boxes and keeping the ones with the least damage. We’re putting them back in the original shipping boxes and storing them in our storage space. This way, when we move again, we’ll have the boxes.

Granted, we don’t see ourselves moving anytime soon. But it’s not like boxes go stale, and as long as they stay dry and clean in storage, that’s just that many more boxes we won’t have to get next time.

Argh. We’re right in the middle of moving, and I can tell I’m stressed because I’m breaking out and my stomach has been bothering me. There’s really no way to have a stress-free move, is there? There’s always going to be one more thing to pack or do or call about or arrange or plan. Gah.

I know that in a week it will all be over, and the best acne cure for me will just be relaxing. But until then?

Argh.
