Crocheted Beanie/Hat

November 3, 2008By 1 Comment

Done! And the amazing thing is, it only took me about 2 and a half hours to complete it.

Crocheted Hat

Pattern: Boy Beanie by Laura Killoran from Stitch n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker

Hook: Size I/9

Yarn: I Love This Yarn! from Hobby Lobby (more on this yarn in another post)

Photo Credit: Self-portrait. Don’t you love the clashing color of the shirt? I’m also cracking up because I put on make-up for this shot. Can’t you tell?

I’m still amazed at how fast crochet goes compared to knitting, and how easy it is to rip back mistakes. This was probably the most basic hat pattern I could have found, but that’s exactly what I was looking for -a simple step towards making wearable crochet items.

The back seam is a little wonky (it comes down to a V at the bottom in the back) but I figure no one will notice. Therefore, I call the crocheted hat experiment a success. Go, me!

NOTE: I’ve signed up for National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) which means I’ll be posting each day in the month of November. Stay tuned for more attempts at craftiness of all varieties this month while I try to find blog fodder expand my crafty horizons.

Hi. I found you through the NaBloPoMo Randomizer… :) and I love that you do crafts. I wish I had more time for that. I really like your beanie. I might want to try and make one myself :)
