Sweeter Lemon

Some people make lemonade – I'd prefer a sweeter lemon

instadryI’ve never had gorgeous fingernails. I have super soft nails that are prone to peeling, so they’re always very short and usually in very poor shape. I’ve been trying to make a concious effort to keep them looking better, so I’ve been buying new nail polishes when I see them on sale.

One of my favorite finds is Sally Hansen’s Insta Dry nail polish. My faovite shade is called “Pink Breeze” that I picked up at Target recently. I can’t seem to find that shade online anywhere – the closest I could find is called “Petal Pusher” but it’s a little more pink than the shade  have.

But it’s more than just the shade. This polish dries super fast, which I love because I hate to put off knitting while I wait for my polish to dry. The brush is really nicely designed – it’s flat and rounded, almost like a makeup brush for your nails. The shape is making it much easier for my clumsy hands to coat each nail evenly and neatly.

For this nail polish non-expert, I really like this one. Just thought I’d share!

Can I just take a moment and say how much I love our dishwasher? Granted, it required us to buy an extra set of flatware because we only had four forks, and we went through those pretty fast, but other than that it’s been pretty awesome. After six years without a dishwasher, it’s been pretty nice.

I mean, OK, it’s not the sleekest design, I’m guessing it’s at least 10 years old and when it runs in the kitchen you can barely hear the TV. But it means I don’t have to wash all of the glasses, and for that I am thankful.

I imagine that someday I’ll look for a kitchen with granite counter tops and zero radius sinks along with a pasta faucet and mammoth island. But for now, I’m just so, so happy with our clunkity old dishwasher.

Don’t even get me started on the disposal.

It’s been so miserable and rainy here for awhile now, and it’s really been getting me down. Then, the clouds shifted and the sun came out today, and it’s like I’m a whole new person.

It’s amazing how just one sunny day can give me so much more energy and lift my mood so much. Even my co-workers noticed (one asked if I had started taking phenphedrine or something, I was so energetic).

Sunshine. My natural mood enhancer.

This is going to sound weird, but I’m thinking that I’d like to get some new makeup.

I haven’t worn make up for quite a while now, and I’m not sure what is prompting this. But I’ve been looking at the Bare Escentuals kit at Sephora for awhile now, and I’m really, really curious. I like the fact that it’s SPF 15 but not a lotion. Plus, it looks easy to use.

What’s holding me back is basically, I’m cheap frugal. I usually just buy the drugstore makeup when I buy makeup at all. The last time I bought fancy makeup was because I had some gift cards to use. Hmmm. I think a trip to Sephora is in order to try this out in person before I make a decision. We shall see.

I’m hanging in there with Dollhouse. I caught up on about 4 in a row a few weekends back, and now I’m watching them every Saturday morning while Mr. M sleeps in.

I’m still not loving the underlying “pimping” theme going on – I was hoping for less Eliza Dushku running around in a sexy nurse costume and more Eliza Dushku running around as a spy or bank robber – but I have hopes that eventually I’ll get more action adventure and less wink-wink action.

Also, that Topher guy? SO annoying. The only way he can redeem himself is if he turns out to be a Doll, too.  But then, maybe everyone’s a Doll. Which, really, would be the ultimate cop-out, so maybe not.
