WIP: Ishbel Scarf and Beret

August 19, 2009By 3 Comments

I realized that I hadn’t discussed my Ishbel scarf in a while! I finished up the actual knitting a couple of weeks ago. I still haven’t blocked it yet, though, so it still looks like a giant blob:

Or, as Mr. Martini called it, “some mighty big underwear.”

Because I knit the smallest size, I had plenty of yarn leftover. Still hurting from the FAIL! of the Backyard Leaves scarf, I wanted to knit some lace that wouldn’t be quite as intense. So I cast on for the Ishbel beret:

So far, so good. I should have probably weighed the yarn before I started to verify exactly how much I had left before I jumped in. I predict that I will probably have enough, but most likely the finished hat will be too small for my melon head.

No matter. Right now it’s all about getting back on the good side of lace knitting. If figure that I’ll find someone with a smallish head that I can gift the hat to when I ‘m finished with it. Any takers?

    It’s lace! It’ll totally block to melon-size!

(Sadly, I also have a melon head, so I cannot help you. You could always donate it?)
