Charity Knitting – Afghan Squares for Pine Ridge
Last year, I found some scraps of yarn in my stash and in the course of just a few days, I crocheted some afghan squares.
These squares were sent to a woman Louisiana, who seamed them together with other squares, and sent the resulting afghans to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, where people in need used these afghans to keep warm over a harsh northern winter.
Well, winter is coming again, and it’s time to make some more squares for more afghans for Pine Ridge.
If you need a little incentive, April over at The Weaving Inn is holding a little contest. Click here for details, but basically the more squares you knit or crochet, the more chances you have to win some great prizes. Like chocolate. Oh yes, chocolate.
So if you’re between projects, and have some extra yarn lying around, why not make a square or two and send it off to help keep some folks warm this winter? Even if you don’t win, I be you’ll be glad you did.
Again, for details check out April’s blog, or the Afghan Squares for Pine Ridge Reservation group on Ravelry (must be a member, but if you’re not, why aren’t you? It’s free!) Good luck!
