The Start of a New Tradition
Since we didn’t really “do” much for Christmas this year, Mr. Martini suggested we bake Christmas cookies on Christmas day just for the fun of it. We’ve had cookie cutters for years, but never used them, so I pulled them out of hibernation and we went to work. We even bought some fancy icing tubes from the grocery store for added fun.
Here are the cookies baked and ready for decorating. We decided to sprinkle half with colored sugar, and use the icing on the others:
The cookie shape on the bottom row caused some debate. As I handed the cutter to Mr. M to use to cut a cookie, he said:
Mr. M: Wait, what is this?
Me: An angel.
Mr. M: Are you sure?
Me: What else could it be?
Mr. M: Sweetie, I think it’s a ghost.
Me: Really? No, I think it’s an angel.
Mr. M: OK, whatever you say.
While I hesitate to admit that Mr. M was correct, I really do think it’s a ghost. Although I did my best to make it an angel, complete with wings, halo and flowing blue robes:

Yeah, I’m not quitting my day job to become a cookie decorator.
We had a lot of fun decorating all of the cookies. They may not be bakery-perfect, but they still tasted pretty good.
Next year, maybe we’ll make gingerbread men. If for no other reason than they might be easier to decorate.

I think further support that it’s a ghost is how it’s scaring the crap out of the cookie man next to it: “Ohh noooooooo!”
