Sweeter Lemon Blog: Re-Launch

September 6, 2011By 4 Comments

When I was growing up, we always started school the day after Labor Day. To me, the week after Labor Day means big changes – a new schedule and a new season. Everything seems to change overnight. Which is why, when I decided to spin my Sweeter Lemon blog in a new direction, I chose the day after Labor Day to start. It seemed appropriate.

A little background – some of my readers may remember that back in April, I moved my craft site from my Almost Crafty URL to this one – sweeterlemon.com. What many folks might not know is that the same week I launched the blog on Sweeter Lemon, I lost my job. The plan that I had for the site pretty much went off the rails at that point. Because while it may seem that unemployment would mean so much extra time to do what you want to do, as many folks know, it really doesn’t work out that way. But more on that at another time.

What I did do during my unemployed stint was think about the site, and what I really wanted to write about. I’ve written online on one place or another for about seven years now (!), talking about everything from daily life to crafts to what I like on TV to the books I’ve read. Somehow, on the new Sweeter Lemon site, all of my interests outside of crafts were left behind, and I missed writing about them. Add to that the constant feeling of “I’m not crafting enough to blog about it!” made me feel frustrated. It was time to either make changes or abandon ship. And I didn’t want to abandon ship.

Which is why you’ll be seeing some changes around these parts. Will I still be writing about crafts? Absolutely! But in addition to posts about knitting and sewing, expect to see more posts about books I’m reading, TV and movies I’m watching, health and exercise, even (gasp) “beauty” (aka, make-up. Feel free to laugh, Brooke.). I don’t claim to be an expert at anything. But it’s my hope that Sweeter Lemon will be my place to journal my experiences, and I hope you’ll enjoy it, too.

In a meantime, as a way of letting it all hang out as it were, I post this photo for your enjoyment. Each year on or around my birthday, I do a cartwheel. Here’s a photo of this year’s cartwheel, taken in Florida on my trip in early August.

Birthday Cartwheel

And did I mention I started a new job recently? So many new beginnings! Here’s to a new start, good times, and sweeter lemons for your tea.

    Woohoo!

I love the birthday cartwheel. One of these years I’m going to steal it.

    1. I love birthday cartwheel. I will never do one though.
    2. I didn’t laugh at “beauty” until I saw the (). Like I’m one to talk?
    3. I hadn’t realized that the launch was the same time as D-Day. That makes me sad faced. I guess when you get to hear about the planning and strategy in the weeks before, the big launch day slipped my mind.
    4. I MISS YOU!!! I NEED MORE PODMATE IN MY LIFE. WHY!?!?!
    5. I’m terribly excited about reading more of you. Like I said, I need more of you and if it’s your voice via your blog [and email and twitter and more email] so be it.
    6. Still missing you…

  3. Brooke says:
