So Not a Nail Blog
This will come as news to probably no one but me, but did you know there is an abundance of nail polish blogs on the internet? I feel the same way I’m sure non-knitters feel when they learn about knitblogs and Ravelry. I just never knew this was a thing until recently, and now I can’t get enough of them.
Most of these blogs post pictures of the bloggers nails in various shades of beautiful polish. The pictures are usually very good (at least the blogs I’ve seen). Their manicures are perfect, the lighting is superb, and typically shows the polish in both sunlight and shade so you get a better idea of the exact polish color. The photographs also include the blogger gently holding the bottle of polish, to illustrate the difference between the color in the bottle, and the color on the nail.
I was inspired to take a few shots of my last few manicures in a similar fashion, but I’ll just come right out and say it: I’m no nail polish blogger. I snapped these photos at my office on my cameraphone, holding a bottle of hand cream, under fluorescent lights. I’d be too embarrassed to post them on a real nail polish blog, but I’ll post them here for the heck of it:
Clockwise from the top left, we have: Butter London’s All Hail the Queen, Zoya Jem, Butter London Big Smoke, and Julep Dendrie.
I’m cracking up at the lower right photo. I’m gripping the hand lotion with such a tight grasp I look like I have sausage fingers. Ha!
Anyway, these are the polishes I’ve worn recently. I kind of like keeping track like this, so I remember what I’ve worn and how it looks on the nail and against my skin tone rather just in the bottle.
Have you heard of nail polish blogs? Do you have any favorites you can recommend?

ooh, I love that deep blue!
