Whimseybox Giveaway!

January 25, 2012By 24 Comments

Greetings, all! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been in a funk lately. Even though we’ve had an unusually warm winter (yay!) it’s been gray and cloudy, and these dark evenings are really starting to get to me. I needed a serious boost of color to lift my spirits.

How perfect is it then, that I happened to sign up for Whimseybox this month? Totally perfect! Monday evening I came home to this happy surprise on my doorstep – my January Whimseybox!

January Whimsey Box

If you haven’t heard of Whimseybox, the concept is simple. You sign up for a subscription, and each month you receive a box filled with various craft item samples.

January Whimsey Box

The samples are packaged in a super-sturdy reusable box (you can’t see it, but it even has a metal plate for labeling). I love that detail! Each month also includes a 5 x 7″ print (perfect for framing) with details of the box contents on the other side.

January Whimsey Box - Goodies!

Remember when I said I was craving some color? Wow! This month, the box includes acrylic paint, oven-bake polymer clay, sequins, ribbons, and a slap bracelet (remember those?). I actually wrote on my “crafts to try” list for this year, “Polymer Clay Crafts.” How perfect is that? To get ideas for each box, you can also check out the Whimseybox Blog or Pinterest board.

Whimseybox is still in the early stages, but if you’re interested in a subscription, you can sign up for an invitation on their site.

As luck would have it, due to an administrative error I received an EXTRA January box. Rather than keep it (tempting!), I’m going to share the bright happy colors with one of my readers! Please note that the paint and sequins colors may vary from the photos above.

Here’s how you can enter to win your own January Whimseybox:

You can earn one entry by posting a comment on this post and tell me what crafty project you’d like to try in 2012. Do you want to branch out and try something new? Challenge yourself with the “next level” on a current craft you love? Just get through one project from beginning to end?

You can earn an extra entry by sharing the link to this contest on Twitter, Facebook, your blog, etc. Just leave a separate comment with the link to your shout out.

I’ll leave comments open until 8pm Eastern Time on Tuesday, January 31st, when I’ll choose a winner. Good luck!

Whimseybox did not compensate me for this post, other than being nice and letting me keep the extra box they sent me in error, which I am now turning around and giving away. All opinions expressed are my own.

I love whimsey box. I’ve asked for an invite, but it hasn’t come, yet. The box isn’t for me, it will be for my kid. I didn’t have a lot of exposure to craft stuff growing up, so I don’t even know where to start when I go out for supplies. I’m hoping to “win” this so we will have a place to start.

I love the idea of whimsey box. Unfortunately I’m from Argentina and they don’t deliver their boxes here, but I have a friend living in Miami who I know will love to subscribe. This year I’m planning to try watercolors with white acrilyc ink. Actually, I’ve already bought the ink. This material is new for me, though I’ve painted with acrilycs, oleos, batik and I also sew. If you want to check my projects my website is http://www.caminavarro.com.ar
I would like to win this box for my friend
    Love, Camila

What a cool idea, and what a way to get inspired! I’m searching for a way to cleverly display my daughter’s photos in her room (she LOVES her family to bits!) and maybe a Whimsy box would do the trick. Thanks Sweeter Lemon for a bit of fun today! :)

  4. Winnie says:

What a cool concept! My 2012 craft goal is try knitting, something I have tried and failed at twice before. I also want to figure out how to craft with my daughter, in a few more months anyway. :)

This is a perfect question for me! I just decided a week ago that I would make a queen size quilt for myself. I’ve been knitting for about 5 years and spinning yarn for about 1 year. I’ve sewn a little in the past, but this quilt is a HUGE step for me, and I could not be more excited.

  6. Lindsay Carlson says:

Id love to actually finish one of the many projects Ive started over the last year. I work well with deadlines so my first project of 2012 is to make a project deadline calendar to keep myself on track! Love the whimseybox!

I am branching out this year by working in a digital form of art. I am using my painted and drawn designs to create other things once I scan them in.
