Around the holidays, knowing the Mr. Martini and I weren’t exchanging gifts, I treated myself to something I’ve wanted for a long time. A bread maker.
Oh, how I love this machine. I throw all the ingredients into the bread maker’s pan, set it to the size and type of loaf, and then just walk away and let it do all the work. No kneading! No mess in my kitchen! Oh, how I love it.
I’m so enamored that I even when out and bought different flours to use for different types of bread. The bread flour gets the biggest container since I use it the most. The AP flour is almost gone because I made scones the morning I took these pictures. I admit that if we make a wheat loaf, I’m partial to the white whole wheat flour. It has a lighter flavor than standard wheat flour.
I make smaller (1.5 lb) loaves since it’s just me and Mr. Martini eating the bread, and we’re not big sandwich eaters. I make a loaf Sunday afternoon, and it lasts all week. Plus, the house smells so good when it’s baking.
This is, without a doubt, the best purchase I have made recently. I’m baking all of our bread, I know exactly what goes into it, and I love experimenting with different recipes. A good friend on Twitter recommended the book “More Bread Machine Magic” by Linda Rehberg and Lois Conway and every recipe I’ve made so far has been a winner.
