Product of the Week: Dove Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner

I was so, so lucky to be chosen by the folks at BlogHer to try another Dove product! This time, it was the Dove nutritive therapy Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner.

I’m going to say right up front that you’re not going to get any photos of my hair to go along with this post. I’m trying to grow out my short summer cut, and I’m in desperate need of a bangs-trim and color touch up. So instead, here’s a photo of me holding the bottle of Dove conditioner in my very, very yellow bathroom. I apologize that this photo makes it look like I only have four fingers.

On to the conditioner! I have very, very fine hair that is prone to dramatic flyaways if I don’t condition it regularly. For an example, check out this photo from a few months ago and look at the top of my head – now that’s some crazy flyaway hair! That said, I need a very light conditioner or else my fine hair looks greasy and dirty before the day is out.

I was a little concerned when I received my package from Dove and saw that they sent me a product to revive dry, rough and frizzy hair. I worried that it would be too heavy for my fine flyaway hair, but I gave it a try.

As it turns out, I really liked it. The conditioner has that great Dove scent that I love, and since I don’t use many other products in my hair it was a great scent to follow my around after my shower. The conditioner feels thick and luxurious, not runny or thin like some conditioners I’ve tried.

One thing I noticed is that it really does provide a deep conditioning without too much heaviness. The product boasts a “unique blend with non-greasy natural almond & mineral oils that are rapidly absorbed to deeply nourish and replenish essential nutrients.” It’s a little more conditioner than I need daily, but I’m thinking that this product would be great to use once or twice a week and especially after I color my hair to repair any of the damage that the harsh chemicals might cause. A definite thumbs up from me!
