TV to Knit By: Bleak House

September 18, 2012By 0 Comments

I was planning to do a blanket update today, since I’ve reached the 10% mark. But the weather has not cooperated and the evenings are too bleak and dark to take a decent photo.

Speaking of bleak (see what I did there?) I spent this weekend’s mornings happily ensconced on the couch under a quilt, with a cup of coffee at my side, knitting away while I started a great series on Netflix Instant,Bleak House:

Maybe I’m having Downton Abbey withdrawal, but I loved spending my mornings in Dickens’ London. And yes, I know that Downton Abbey wasn’t a Dickens novel, and doesn’t even take place in the same century. But there’s something about British accents, gorgeous costumes, and a soap-opera worthy stories (illegitimate children! smallpox! death by spontaneous combustion! and I’m only halfway through!) that makes me happy.

Granted, this series was produced in 2005, so I’m a little late to the party for this one. I’ll be so sad when I’ve finished this, but I already have Little Dorrit and Cranford lined up next.

Beyond that, I’m at a loss. What are some of your favorite TV shows to knit/sew/stitch/etc. to? Is there something out there I’m missing like these crazy period dramas that I absolutely need to watch? Let me know!
